Squid Game a ainsi initié de nombreux téléspectateurs occidentaux - notamment américains - aux K-dramas. Si le géant du streaming avait investi 500 millions de dollars dans des productions d'origine asiatiques, et notamment sud-coréennes, plusieurs mois avant son explosion, la création de Hwang Dong-hyuk l'a clairement encouragé à miser sur d'autres séries sud-coréennes, qui s'enchaînent depuis dans le catalogue. All Of Us Are Dead est ainsi devenue la seconde série non anglophone à y parvenir, derrière Squid Game qui y est arrivé en quatre jours, contre sept jours pour la série de zombies. Alors que La Chronique des Bridgerton saison 2 arrive le 25 mars, Netflix tient déjà un succès colossal pour le cru 2022. Et franchement, c'est assez inattendu. Car même si Inventing Anna a beaucoup fait parler d'elle avant sa sortie, et si l'histoire de cette jeune femme qui a arnaqué la jet-set de New York entre 2016 et 2017 est tout simplement incroyable, seuls les plus optimistes pouvaient prédire à cette série un tel succès. C'est bien simple, Inventing Anna est la série américaine qui cartonne le plus sur Netflix depuis sa création. Du 14 au 20 février, elle a ainsi fait mieux que des mastodontes comme You, The Witcher, ou encore Sex Education, avec près de 196 millions heures de visionnage sur une période de 7 jours. C'est certes loin des séries coréennes Squid Game ou All of Us Are Dead, qui ont atteint respectivement 570 et 230 millions d'heures de visionnage sur une semaine, mais le succès d'Inventing Anna est bel et bien colossal. Au total, la nouvelle série Netflix a cumulé plus de 404 millions d'heure de visionnage en seulement 17 jours de disponibilité sur la plateforme. C'est énorme. Ce succès tient au bouche-à-oreille qui n'a fait circuler que des compliments sur Inventing Anna, et ce même si tous les faits et gestes de l'héroïne arnaqueuse ne sont pas tous véridiques. Beaucoup de zones d'ombre subsistent dans ce fait divers qui a défrayé la chronique à la suite de l'article de Jessica Pressler paru dans le New York Magazine en 2018. Elle racontait là l'aventure à peine croyable de Anna Delvey, jeune héritière allemande qui avait réussi à s'ouvrir les portes de la haute société de New York. Le problème est qu'elle n'était pas vraiment héritière et qu'elle a escroqué des dizaines de personnes, pour des sommes se comptant en milliers de dollars. Dans la série, Anna Delvey, de son vrai nom Sorokin, est interprétée par Julia Garner. L'actrice qui joue la fameuse Ruth Langmore dans Ozark porte magistralement le show Netflix et participe grandement au raz-de-marée Inventing Anna. Et quelque chose nous dit ce que ce n'est pas terminé pour cette série qui occupe la première place du Top 10 Netflix des séries en langue anglaise depuis trois semaines.
